Great but...A couple of things are keeping me from giving this campground a fifth star. For one the outhouse cleanliness is minimal, with no hand sanitizer or air freshener in sight. The shower complex is much better so keep that in mind when nature calls. The other major point of failure is the trail system. Several signs indicate trailheads and navigation through trails around the entire park, but most signs do not point in the right direction, and about half of the trails are eroded or nonexistent, with no indication of closure on the signs. The parks crew seem fine to just ignore this and not close the trails.Pros:- beautiful lake with ample sandy beach- store and ice cream for sale right on the beach- plenty of good sites, treed in and hookups- tennis courts and boat rentals availableCons:- poor sanitation in outhouses- trail system not maintained In short, a good campground with plenty of sites and good for kids. But better places can be found if hiking or biking the trails is your thing.
I went to Kimball as a kid many times (about 15 years ago) and I've always wanted to go back. Usually things aren't as great as you remember them but wow, Kimball was as good or better than I remember it! The best beach, trails, and ice cream!
Very nice beach and camp ground. Nice facilities.
Probably one of my favorite parks I've ever been to. Lots of hiking trails. The fishing was ok and the lake was beautiful. We found lots of wild blueberries just off the hiking trails and even say a bear with her cub while out for a drive.
I was camping at Matheson and stopped in at the store and then had a shower. Very friendly staff and clean facilities, even have washer and dryer for campers.
